CarriagesCarriage is not quite a job like the other jobs. First, it's an ecologic way to transport goods in mountain. The only alternative is the helicopter.
It is also a way to "reconnect" with the donkeys after long months of winter rest. It also permits to educate young donkeys.
It's also the mutual pleasure of meeting with shepherds and cowherds. For them, the arrival of their goods and the stock of salt for the herd is an important moment in the year: the start of their summer season (3 months for the shepherds, 5 months for cowherds).
The return of goods marks the end of the season and early fall
In our valley, most herds are kept, mainly by young people with strong character. The meeting and discussion with these men and women who do a so special job, is always a pleasure.
