Famous for the great variety of its wild fauna, Orlu National Reserve constitutes a privileged site to study and observe the isards and marmots. Our donkeys await you at the entry of the reserve. While following a large path, this walk will take you along, in less than 2 hours to Pla d'En Gaudu. You're there in high mountain. The brook runs in bottom of valley. Stop a long moment. Here you observe isards, marmots, trouts, large raptors and many species of flowers. Return by the same way.

Dogs are prohibited  in Orlu National Reserve

We meet in the car park of Fanguil above Orlu. After Ax-les-Thermes, take the direction of Orgeix-Orlu on the left side. After crossing the village of Orlu, you take the road on the left after the power station which is on your right. After 4 km, at the end of the road, you will reach the Fanguil car park. We are waiting for you on the other side of the wood bridge.
A few days before your trek, you have to say us at what time you come between 9am and 11am.

Practical information and booking required

Day hikes in the Orlu Reserve are organized from July 1st to August 31st.
You can choose your departure time between 9:15 AM and 11:00 AM. You are free to return whenever you like, provided it is before 6:30 PM.

Allow about 45 minutes for an introduction and to get acquainted with the donkey; for example, if your appointment is at 10:00 AM, you will start walking around 10:45 AM. The hike up to En Gaudu—where you can spot marmots—takes about an hour and a half at the donkey's pace.

Dogs are not permitted in the Orlu Reserve.

You must bring your own picnic and enough water for the day, as there are no shops or food outlets on site.
Everyone must wear closed-toe shoes (sneakers, hiking boots, etc.).

Under your responsibility, a child (between 3 and 8 years old, less than 27 kg) can climb on the donkey. If you have one, we thank you for providing a helmet (if not, we lend you one). For children up to 3 years, we advise you to provide a backhead baby carrier bag.
